What Is Oilseed Processing?
Oilseed processing begins by converting oil seeds into protein and oil fractions. This can be done mechanically or by solvent, which is predominant in the extraction industry. Mechanical processing, such as high shear dry extrusion, cooks and ruptures oil cells. Then a horizontal screw press is used to partially defat the cake.
