Demand for sustainable protein sources continues to grow worldwide, with Textured Soy Protein (TSP) becoming a key ingredient in plant-based meat alternatives and meat extenders. TSP is largely produced from solvent-extracted soy flour due to its widespread availability and established processing infrastructure. The alternative approach is mechanically extruded and pressed ExPress® soy flour. Produced without any chemical solvents, ExPress® soy retains a moderate amount of natural soybean oil (7-11%) while preserving protein functionality. ExPress® soy flour also produces TSP with enhanced water absorption, absorbing up to five times its weight in water compared to three times for conventional solvent-extracted products.
