{"id":2153,"date":"2015-06-04T04:35:10","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T09:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.insta-pro.com\/?p=2153"},"modified":"2025-12-18T10:23:46","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T16:23:46","slug":"key-factors-in-developing-vendor-relationships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/instapro.spinuhost.com\/en\/blog\/engineeringandmaintenance\/key-factors-in-developing-vendor-relationships\/","title":{"rendered":"Key Factors in Developing Vendor Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We often discuss the importance of developing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insta-pro.com\/2014\/11\/06\/business-partnering-do-you-need-assistance-sourcing-soybeans\/\">partnership <\/a>with our customers, but another very important relationship is the one we have with our vendors.\u00a0 Without strategic partners, we would not be able to offer the level of service and support our customers need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack of All Trades:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It often seems like you run into people who know a little about a lot of things, but are not what you\u2019d consider \u201cexperts\u201d.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to find partner vendors to strengthen the areas in which you are weak or do not have as much experience.<\/p>\n<p>We specialize in extrusion and pressing equipment and technology.\u00a0 We are not a milling vendor, a dryer\/cooler vendor, or conveying vendor (among other things).\u00a0 We focus our efforts on being experts in extrusion technology. \u00a0This focus that allows us to be the best we can be for our customers. \u00a0Specializing in extrusion and pressing equipment has enabled us to become experts and use our resources to provide our customers with the highest quality machines and customer service. Through our vendors, we are also able to provide high quality supporting parts and machinery without having to take our attention away from what we excel at.\u00a0Due to our smaller size, we have to be more specialized in what we do but that doesn&#8217;t mean we can&#8217;t provide our customers with everything they need.\u00a0 This is a lesson that can be applied to your business as well.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Trust Partnership:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While we may not be the vendor for some of the equipment we provide, we are a trusted resource to our customers.\u00a0 In that same sense, our partner vendors are a trusted resource for us.\u00a0 We call on them for advice and support when needed.\u00a0 You can be this to your customers as well. \u00a0They will come to you with questions and for advice as a trusted resource. \u00a0While you personally may not have all of the answers, using your contacts with your vendors or partners you&#8217;ll be able to provide them with a reliable answer. \u00a0From there, a working relationship and trusted partnership is formed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Things to Look For:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to be aware that not all vendors are created equally.\u00a0 You should do some research before deciding to form a partnership with a company.\u00a0 Here are some common things to consider:<\/p>\n<p>-Do they have a proven track record and examples of their work?<\/p>\n<p>-Are there any word of mouth recommendations?<\/p>\n<p>-Do they have reviews from customers?<\/p>\n<p>-How do they treat their customers (customer service)?<\/p>\n<p>You can usually find equipment and services for less cost, but when you need support, will someone be there?\u00a0 As the old saying goes, \u201cyou get what you pay for.&#8221; \u00a0Being proactive and doing the required research will save lots of headaches down the road.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We often discuss the importance of developing a partnership with our customers, but another very important relationship is the one we have with our vendors.\u00a0 Without strategic partners, we would not be able to offer the level of service and support our customers need.
