production, and sales of products.<\/p>\n<p>After all, you\u2019re trying to meet product specifications and predict how a particular diet formulation will affect animal performance goals.\u00a0 If these goals are missed, your customers will let you know about it.\u00a0 And even though it may seem straight forward, like with most things, there\u2019s a lot more gray than black and white.<\/p>\n<p>We periodically give you tips for further enhancing your formulation strategies (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insta-pro.com\/en\/2018\/03\/22\/evaluating-ingredients-part-7-extruded-corn\/\">here<\/a> for an article list).\u00a0 Rather than just relying on a least-cost formulation, it\u2019s important to understand as much of the complexity as possible and use this knowledge to <em>minimize<\/em> as much of the uncertainty as you can.<\/p>\n<p>For example, there is a tendency to put ingredients in neat little boxes of classification even though this <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.efeedlink.com\/contents\/11-25-2016\/f1c3c29a-05b5-405d-89d0-683880b601ea-d182.html\">approach is simple and flawed<\/a>.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve read our blog much at all, you\u2019ll know that the method of choice for processing raw soybeans into meal and oil affects the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insta-pro.com\/en\/2013\/07\/16\/cheaper-ingredients-may-have-hidden-costs\/\">quality and feeding values<\/a> (and by extension, economic values) of these ingredients.\u00a0 This href=\"https:\/\/www.insta-pro.com\/en\/2018\/09\/27\/trying-new-ingredients-requires-adequate-risk-management\/\">build in risk mitigation<\/a> this way.\u00a0 Practically, this means having some high-quality, predictable, nutrient-rich ingredients as the backbone of a formulation.<\/p>\n<p>The high-shear dry extruder can help you make these ingredients.\u00a0 With well-defined, easily-controlled processing conditions inside the extruder barrel, predictable ingredients can be made.\u00a0 Most notable in this category are high-shear, dry extruded whole soybeans (<a
